QR codes, wrong-number refunds, customer care numbers found on a search engine, and screen-sharing apps — four patterns, and one tell running through them.
| The scam | What actually happens |

| "Scan this QR to receive money" | Scanning a QR and entering a PIN sends money. It cannot receive. |
| "I sent ₹5,000 by mistake, please return it" | No money arrived. The SMS was fake. You return real money for nothing. |
| Customer care number found on a search engine | Fraudsters buy ads and seed fake numbers. Always use the number in the official app. |
| "Install this app so I can help you" | Screen-sharing apps let them watch you type your PIN and read your OTPs. |
| "Your KYC will expire today" | Manufactured urgency. No bank suspends an account over one unanswered SMS. |
