A UPI PIN only ever sends money — it never receives. Almost every UPI scam is built on that single fact, and knowing it closes most of them.
To RECEIVE money on UPI you do nothing at all. No PIN, no OTP, no scanning, no app install. The money simply arrives.
That single fact defeats most UPI fraud, because most UPI fraud is built on convincing you that receiving needs a PIN.

It would not. What you were looking at was a request to send, wearing the word refund. The app was doing its job — it wants the PIN because money is about to leave.
