Lesson 2 of 2 · 7 min
Job scams, task scams and doubling schemes
If you have to pay to get a job, it is not a job. If a return is promised, someone else is being paid with your money. The early payout is the hook.
Job scams ask for a registration fee, a training fee, or a refundable deposit. A real employer pays you; you do not pay them. That single test catches almost all of them.
Task scams start tiny and pay out. You like a few videos, you receive ₹150, it feels real. Then the tasks require a deposit to "unlock" a higher tier, and the deposits get larger until you stop.
Myth
“If they paid me the first time, it must be genuine.”
False
Paying out small amounts early is the investment the scam makes in you. It buys your trust cheaply, and it is recovered many times over when the deposits start. The early payment is not evidence of honesty — it is the product being sold to you.
But the money actually arrived — how is that not proof?

Kabirasking
The first payout was real. It landed in my account and I checked the balance myself. How is money that actually arrived not proof that the thing is real?
Taraexplaining
Because it was never a payment. It was a purchase — they were buying your confidence, and at that price it is cheap. Everything after it runs the other way.
Kabirasking
So the better it goes early, the worse it is?
Taraexplaining
Often, yes, and that inversion is why careful people get caught. Your caution asked for evidence. They supplied evidence. The caution then worked for them instead of for you.
Kabirasking
If someone has already put money in, what is the first thing they do?
Taraexplaining
Stop paying, save every screenshot, and report the same day — 1930 and the portal. This is a professional operation being run at you. Nobody on the other end is embarrassed, and there is no reason you should be.
| Signal | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| A promise about what you will earn | Fixed deposits and government schemes state a rate — but nobody may lawfully promise a return on the stock market, crypto or any market-linked scheme. A promised market return is reason enough to walk away. |
| You earn more by recruiting others | That is the structure of a pyramid, whatever the product is. |
| Pressure to decide today | Real opportunities survive a night’s sleep. |
| You cannot explain how it makes money | If nobody can tell you where the return comes from, it comes from the next person in. |
| Unregistered "advisers" in a Telegram group | Check the register. Anyone advising on securities for a fee must be SEBI-registered. |

Kabir asks
A task app pays you a small amount, on time, for easy work. What has that payment bought?
